FOX LOCAL LA tracks our breaking news headline of the day: the unexpected passing of Dolores Huerta at age 96. Multiple live interviews and tributes are woven into our coverage of the trailblazing civil rights and labor union leader. Governor Gavin Newsom delivers respectful remarks, California State Senator María Elena Durazo shares an emotional message about their friendship and mutual support, L.A. County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath commends Huerta for improving the lives of farmworkers and women, and entertainment anchor Amanda Salas reflects on her personal connection with Dolores Huerta.
Surrounding our coverage on Huerta's enduring impact, FOX LOCAL LA provided real-time reports of coastal flooding in Huntington Beach, where locals – including FOX News contributor and chef Andrew Gruel – are suffering from record-breaking high tides. FOX LOCAL LA also broadcasted press conferences from the Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays ahead of Game 5 in the World Series, and interviewed the CEO of a nonprofit conducting a low-income family food distribution event.
